What This Policy Covers
This policy describes how CalculateMyHeartRate.com handles information when you use our heart rate zone calculator. We built this as a free, no-account tool — we do not collect your name, email, or any other personally identifiable information through the calculator itself.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit this site, third-party services we use collect certain data automatically:
- IP address — used by Google Analytics to estimate your approximate location (country/region). We do not store or access your IP address directly.
- Browser and device type — collected by Google Analytics for usage reporting (e.g., mobile vs. desktop, Chrome vs. Safari).
- Pages visited and time on site — collected by Google Analytics so we can understand how people use the calculator and improve it.
- Ad interactions — Google AdSense records whether you viewed or clicked an advertisement.
We do not sell this data. We do not have access to raw, individually identifiable records — only aggregated reports in the Google Analytics dashboard.
Information You Store Locally
The Resting Heart Rate (RHR) Tracker feature saves your weekly resting heart rate readings directly in your browser using localStorage. This data:
- Never leaves your device — it is not sent to our servers or any third party.
- Is stored only in the browser you use on the device you use.
- Can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cached data and cookies).
Cookies & Third-Party Services
We use two third-party services that set cookies in your browser:

Google Analytics (GA4) — measures site traffic and usage patterns. Sets cookies prefixed
_ga. Data is processed by Google LLC under their privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. - Google AdSense — serves advertisements. May set cookies to show ads relevant to your interests based on your browsing history across sites. Data is processed by Google LLC. You can review Google's advertising privacy controls at adssettings.google.com.
We do not use any other tracking services.
Your Choices & Opt-Outs
You have several options to limit data collection:
- Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Personalized ads opt-out: Visit Google Ad Settings or optout.aboutads.info.
- Browser-level controls: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in Settings → Privacy.
- localStorage: Clear your browser's site data to remove any saved RHR tracker entries.
Data Retention
We do not store personal data on our own servers. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default (Google's standard). AdSense cookie lifespans are set by Google. Your locally stored RHR data stays in your browser until you clear it.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted data through this site, contact us at contactus@calculatemyheartrate.com and we will address it promptly.
Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, or to object to its processing. Because we do not directly collect or store personal data, most requests should be directed to Google. If you have a request specific to this site, email us at privacy@calculatemyheartrate.com and we will respond within 30 days.
