What This Policy Covers

This policy describes how CalculateMyHeartRate.com handles information when you use our heart rate zone calculator. We built this as a free, no-account tool — we do not collect your name, email, or any other personally identifiable information through the calculator itself.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit this site, third-party services we use collect certain data automatically:

• IP address — used by Google Analytics to estimate your approximate location (country/region). We do not store or access your IP address directly.
• Browser and device type — collected by Google Analytics for usage reporting (e.g., mobile vs. desktop, Chrome vs. Safari).
• Pages visited and time on site — collected by Google Analytics so we can understand how people use the calculator and improve it.
• Pixel/browser data for ad measurement — the Meta (Facebook) Pixel records page views and browsing signals used to measure ad performance and build audiences for our Facebook/Instagram ads.

We do not sell this data for money (see Sale and Sharing of Personal Information below). We do not have access to raw, individually identifiable records — only aggregated reports in the Google Analytics dashboard.

Information You Store Locally

The Resting Heart Rate (RHR) Tracker feature saves your weekly resting heart rate readings directly in your browser using localStorage. This data:

• Never leaves your device — it is not sent to our servers or any third party.
• Is stored only in the browser you use on the device you use.
• Can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cached data and cookies).

Your cookie consent preference is also saved in localStorage under the key cmhr_consent. It records whether you accepted or declined cookies along with a timestamp, and expires automatically after 13 months. Like your RHR data, it never leaves your device.

Cookies & Third-Party Services

We use two third-party services that set cookies or similar tracking technology in your browser:

• Google Analytics (GA4) — measures site traffic and usage patterns. Sets cookies prefixed _ga. Data is processed by Google LLC under their privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
• Meta (Facebook) Pixel — measures the performance of our Facebook/Instagram advertising and helps us build audiences for future ad campaigns. Sets a _fbp cookie and may share browsing data with Meta Platforms, Inc. under their data policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

We implement Google Consent Mode v2 for Google Analytics, and Meta's equivalent consent signal for the Meta Pixel. What happens before you make a choice depends on where you are:

• EU/EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland: consent is denied by default. Google Analytics does not set cookies, and the Meta Pixel does not load, until you click Accept All. Until then, Google may receive limited, cookieless signals (such as a page view with no identifiers) that it uses only for aggregate measurement.
• All other regions: Google Analytics runs by default, and you can opt out at any time by clicking Decline. The Meta Pixel does not load until you click Accept All, wherever you are.

Google determines which regional default applies from your approximate location based on your IP address. We do not perform our own location lookup. A consent banner is displayed on your first visit and remains visible until you make a choice: clicking Accept All grants consent to both services, and clicking Decline denies consent to both and deletes the Google Analytics and Meta cookies already stored in your browser for this site. Your choice is saved for 13 months and always overrides the regional default, even if you travel or use a VPN. You can reopen the banner and change your choice at any time using the Your Privacy Choices link at the bottom of every page.

We do not use any other tracking services.

Your Choices & Opt-Outs

You have several options to limit data collection:

• Your Privacy Choices: Click Your Privacy Choices (also at the bottom of every page) to reopen the consent banner and accept or decline cookies.
• Global Privacy Control (GPC): If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information. See Sale and Sharing of Personal Information below.
• Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
• Personalized ads opt-out: Visit Google Ad Settings or optout.aboutads.info.
• Meta ad preferences: Visit Facebook Ad Preferences to control how Meta uses your data for ads.
• Browser-level controls: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in Settings → Privacy.
• localStorage: Clear your browser's site data to remove any saved RHR tracker entries.
• Reset your consent record: Clearing your browser's site data for this domain (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data) removes the cmhr_consent entry from localStorage, and the banner will reappear on your next visit.

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information for money. However, some US state privacy laws, including California's, treat certain advertising activity as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information even when no money changes hands. On this site, that covers the Meta Pixel, which we use to measure our ads and build ad audiences, and any Google advertising cookies or signals. You can opt out at any time:

• Use the banner: Click Your Privacy Choices and choose Decline. This turns off Google Analytics as well.
• Turn on Global Privacy Control: When we detect a GPC signal, Google advertising signals are turned off and the Meta Pixel does not load. GPC does not turn off Google Analytics, which we use only to understand how the site is used. A GPC signal also overrides an earlier Accept All choice, unless you choose Accept All again while GPC is on. When we detect a GPC signal, the consent banner tells you so before you choose.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Data Retention

We do not store personal data on our own servers. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default (Google's standard). Your locally stored RHR data stays in your browser until you clear it.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted data through this site, contact us at contactus@calculatemyheartrate.com and we will address it promptly.

Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, or to object to its processing. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, see Sale and Sharing of Personal Information above. Because we do not directly collect or store personal data, most requests should be directed to Google. If you have a request specific to this site, email us at privacy@calculatemyheartrate.com and we will respond within 30 days.
